A special project for a sufferer of domestic abuse

Raising 3 kids is no feasible task, especially as a single parent with a history of domestic abuse. Grace (name changed for privacy), a single mum who originated from a south-east-asian country, lives in a house provided by HouseWest located in Belmont and struggles financially with maintenance and upkeep. Grace needed assistance in building a driveway for her house as she felt unsafe with her car constantly parked outside her fence. Her car had been broken into repeatedly.

“I found that the cost of building was too high and I couldn’t afford it.”

After encountering multiple difficulties in her search for a suitable builder, Grace was referred to Imagine Global. Our volunteers worked with a team of volunteers from New Life City Church to construct a brand new driveway from scratch at minimal cost. Grace has been really grateful to Imagine Global for their generosity and assistance. The volunteers were surprised with a hearty portion of curry puffs that Grace cooked to return the favour.

One of our volunteers, Anna, participated in this home visit and was touched by Grace’s plight and her overflowing gratitude towards the volunteers. Being able to witness the impact that Imagine Global had on Grace’s life, Anna realised the unspoken power she held and her potential to change the lives of millions of Western Australians. 

Grace’s story is featured, not because it’s the most remarkable but because it isn’t. She is one of the many disadvantaged members of the community struggling with simple tasks that so many of us take for granted. Her story serves as a constant reminder as to why we do what we do. To empower ordinary people to impact the vulnerable while spreading love and kindness.
